Fresh, original, and ceaselessly entertaining Jason Reitman's Juno is one of the brightest and funniest comedies of the decade. With scathingly sharp dialogue and intangible character chemistry, Juno is a coming-of-age film that is consistently funny and effortlessly cool.
Sixteen-year-old Minnesota high-school student Juno Maguff (Ellen Page) is a rebellious, outwardly confident and highly articulate teenager with a penchant for seventies punk and Dario Argento horror. Faced with an unexpected pregnancy, the result of an experimental encounter with calm, amiable, and sweetly reserved best friend Paulie Bleeker (Michael Cera), Juno has to make the biggest decision of her life. Weighing up her options with reliable and quirky cheerleader friend Leah (Olivia Thirlby), brazen Juno chooses to carry out the pregnancy and scour the local ads paper for potential adoptive parents for her unborn child. In the young yuppie couple of cool, laidback Mark (Jason Bateman) and meticulous, child-needy Vanessa (Jennifer Garner), Juno finds seemingly perfect prospective parents. So as Juno delves into the unknown responsibility of a very adult world, will everything go according to plan?
The sensational performances of the entire cast particularly Ellen Page (Hard Candy) and Michael Cera (Superbad) enable you to become hopelessly and happily lost in the story and with Jason Reitman's seamless direction and real-life attention to detail, much like Judd Apatow's Knocked Up, Juno bristles with vitality and heart. But it's the edgy freshness of first-time scriptwriter Diablo Cody's quick-fire dialogue that really makes Juno such a warm, wonderful, and inspired comedy. Bearing a resemblance to the similarly idiosyncratic Little Miss Sunshine, Juno portrays ordinary - ordinarily eccentric - people dealing with difficult situations with humour, warmth, and decency.

I thought this film was ok. It was funny throughout and made me laugh. The story line was also unusual and well written, which made this film refreshing to watch. I also liked the characters.
The aspect i liked most about this film was that it actually reflects real life for a typical teenager. Ok, so not every teenager gets pregnant like Juno, but she does face many other everyday dilemas. This film highlights these in a tasteful and humourous manner.
The reson i only gave it 4 stars was because of the 'weird' relationship between Juno and the future father of her baby. It seemed at some points that something was going to happen between them and it never. It was almost as though the writers were going to do that and then changed their mind, or just forgot. I no that not everyone agrees with me on this, but i thought i would put it in.
My advice: worth a place in the dvd collection.
Cute flim, plus something more...

Cool and original new movie, loved the dialogue which makes use of a lot of teen slang and Ellen Page is really great as a lead. I was surprised to find a film with substance as well as being a feel good teen flick. Juno's situation being so far from ideal - her early pregnancy and a broken family, and her ability to stay so upbeat and positive (with the help of those around her) seems to bring to the film a wonderful sense of hope. The characters are far from being stereotypes which is what makes the film so interesting, as even half way through its hard to guess in which direction the plot will turn. The characters come across as being so genuine Its hard not to fall in love with them. Plus its written and codirected by a blogger! Would recommend this film to teenagers and adults alike whether you're after a comedy or something a little bit thought provoking.

the first twenty minutes or so you may well say 'oh no' it's another silly teen movie.
howevever the film did have 'four' oscar nominations, so there must be more to it, there was.
'juno' finds herself 'pregnant' after a 'first' time encounter with her boy friend, she is only '16' and doesn't want the responsibility of a child at her age.
'juno' set's out to find the perfect couple to adopt and bring up the
child when born.
does she make the right decision ?
this is a moving and often emotional film, well worth the 'oscar' nominations in my opinion.
'ellen page' who plays 'juno' is surely a 'star' of the not to distant future.
there is much humour in the film along with some half-decent music, and yes :- it is worth watching.
