This is still one of the best valued blu ray writers/hd-dvd player there is. You get two HD players in one device for less than £200! If your confidant and have the right graphics card and monitor you will be amazed at what this can produce. The software included works pefectly and with a free download, it will even play copy protected Blu Ray AND HD-DVD discs! Ignore the comment below about colour issues because that is more likely to be down to graphics card/graphics card driver incompatability issues than the hardware. So if your confident with installing optical drives into to your computer you can grab a great bargin with this drive!

It is technicaly a good piece of kit, but Ive had some issues with the software bundled with it. With certain films the colours are WAY off. Mainly seems to be blues and greens. King Kong on HD-DVD was first I noticed, with blue foliage in the jungle in some scenes and in Superman Returns on blu-ray, with the man of steel in a lovely green number. Checking forums online confirmed that Im not the only one to notice. Spidey trilogy has the occasional stutter, but other than that, everything else ive played seems ok.
I have intel 6400 duo processor 2gb or ram and 8800gts 640mb vid card, so my pc is fairly well spec'd.
Other than these gripes, I cant disuade anyone from buying as Im sure the problems can be resolved in time with a few updates.

this writer has it all. BluRay writing and playback aswell as HD-DVD playback. the war between BluRay and HD DVD is not over yet so with this piece of kit im covered for whichever way it goes. of course its still backwards compatible to DVD and CD writing and reading so it really is a great allrounder at a great price. Nice work by Play
